This apple pie is sooo yummy, if I do say so myself.Filling:
6 granny smith apples peeled and thinly sliced. (Don't wash them or your filling will be really runny. Peeling the apples will take care of making sure they're clean.)
1/2 to 3/4 cup of sugar
2 tbsp flour
1 tsp cinnamon
dash of nutmeg
2 tbs butter
Combine sugar, flour, spices, and a dash of salt. Mix with apples. Put in pie dish on top of crust. Dot with butter. Put top crust, cut slits for steam to escape. Seal. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 50 minutes or until done.
Crust:
2 cups flour
1tsp salt
2/3 cup shortening or butter
7 tbsp cold water
Mix flour and salt. Cut in shortening. Sprinkle 1tablespoon of water at a time. Mix with hands until in a nice smooth ball. Wrap in wax paper and put in fridge for 20 minutes. Then divide in half, roll out an put in pie dish. Roll out 2nd half and put on top after the filling has been put in.
oooo kari, looks sooooooooo yummy! =)
